In March 2012, twenty 7th and 8th grade students from Solomon Middle School will travel by train from Mississippi to Chicago, recreating an epic journey. This blog will document our students' experiences. Thank you for your support!

Hello my name is Gloria B. I am looking forward to having a great time. I really want to visit the site of Chicago University. Me as Gloria B I would like to learn a lot on the trip I also want to have fun at the same time. I really did not think that we were going to be going to all of those sites but now that I have been attending all of the meetings I am really looking forward to learning a lot about the trip. I hope that there isn’t any confusion on the trip I would love if everyone got alone you never know who may be watching you. -Gloria B.
What am I most looking forward to in Chicago? Hi my name is Marcus C. and I am going to tell you the things that I am going to be looking forward to in Chicago. I am looking forward to the diverse culture. I am also looking forward to the navy pier. And also i would like to visit the hull house. I am also looking forward to going to the numerous colleges we are going to go to. I am also excited about going to the pool of the hotel. Making new friends with some people that i don’t even know. Interacting with my different nationalities of people. I am also looking forward to the excitement of the city. And I am also excited about going to all of these different institutions of learning and acting. That is why would absolutely love to visit Chicago. –Marcus c.
In Chicago I look forward to touring the museums, going to the zoo and eating out at different restaurants. I have already been to Chicago but I have never been with a group of students and without my parents. I’m anxious to go to different restaurants because I have never really been to a lot of places. I’m use to going to Red Lobster, China Town, and Olive Garden. I want to adventure out and taste different foods. I really want to go to the zoo because I haven’t been since I was little. I want to see all the different animals, the people and how they dress and act different from us. I haven’t seen a museum since 2008, when I was in Washington, D. C. I want to see different things instead of the same old same old. I anxious, ready, and jolly to adventure Chicago. -Semoria D.
In Chicago I’m looking forward to learning new things. I want to learn about why did the migration take place. Also I’m looking forward to getting in the pool and tasting a variety of different foods. I want to enjoy being in the hotel with my friends. Also going to the zoo would be very fun, I would like to see different animals. I really want to go shopping for my family and friends. Another reason that I’m looking forward to going to Chicago is to get away from my parents. I have never been away from them for a long period of time. Another reason why I would like to go is to show off our new Great Migration shirts. This is what I’m looking forward to in Chicago! -Jamessa M.
In Chicago I am mostly looking forward to getting in the pool at the hotel. Also I’m looking forward to going to the zoo. The main reason why I want to go is to learn new things and to go shopping. This trip will help me learn to feel what it is like to be alone for a few days. To me everything should be very fun. Even though I won’t be with my parents, I know that it will still be fun.
